How it works
Three straightforward steps
01
Choose the protected PDF
Select the document you want to unlock. Keep the original protected version if you need a secure copy for storage.
02
Enter its password
Provide a valid password. The tool verifies it locally and reports an error if the password is incorrect or the encryption is unsupported.
03
Save an unlocked copy
Download the unencrypted result. You can then split, rotate or number it. Protect the final copy again if you plan to share sensitive material.

FAQ
Common questions
Can this find an unknown password?
No. The tool uses a password you already know; it does not guess, crack or recover passwords. Ask the document owner for access or an unlocked copy if you cannot open it. Only process documents you have permission to modify.
What changes when I remove the password?
The downloaded copy is unencrypted and no longer requires an opening password. Anyone who can access that file can read it. Choose its save location carefully, and delete unwanted copies using your device’s file management tools.
Are all protected PDFs supported?
Password-based PDF security and certificate-based access are different mechanisms. This tool is intended for supported password-based encryption. Certificate-encrypted files, damaged files and unsupported formats produce an explanatory error. It cannot remove a digital signature while preserving the signature’s validity.
Can I use other tools after unlocking?
Yes. The unlocked copy can be used with Merge, Split, Rotate, Watermark and Add Page Numbers, subject to each tool’s limits. Perform the edits first and use Protect PDF at the end if the finished document needs an opening password.
Where is decryption performed?
Inside your browser. The document and password are not uploaded to an ArchwayPDF processing server and are not sent as analytics fields. Closing or resetting the workspace releases temporary application references, while downloaded files remain on your device.
